Vegetable Garden News
Lettuce has been good; waiting on the second crop right now. Chinese greens were good but with the heat they bolted quickly. Strawberries were good and I do have small peppers showing; the beans were great, but I think there was something wrong with the seed and they have gone pale green with brown spots, but they do have blooms so we shall see. Edible peas have been good, with more coming... so overall, the veggie planters were a success I think, but I have plans to grow some veggies under my deck next year....fenced for deeer! The one thing that is doing very well on the deck are my tomatoes; I just hope they don't go black later on!

One more comment on container gardening on decks......I had a visit from a racoon when the strawberries were ripe, but then I left the deck lights on and they didn't come back.......I also threw a rock at one and got him! One side advantage of the containers is that I didn't get any slugs? I don't know if this is because it is a very sunny deck, or because I have put in drip irrigation.
